Heeney comes to Chicago from St.Louis.He had been arrested in St.Louis on May 13,1907 for a larceny charge.Once in Chicago he became a minor syndicate hanger on in 1918.
Oct 4,1923 Willie Heeney is known at the times as an associate of Big Dave Earsman.Both were suspected of entering the home of H.T. Hollingshead at 4753 Kimbark avenue under the guise of being Prohibition agents and made off with $15,000 worth of whiskey.Heeney is arrested by Lieutenant O'Connor at 21st street and Michigan, minutes apart after picking up Earsman.
September 1926 Bill McSwiggin's father names Heeney as one of the men who participated in the drive by shooting of his prosecutor son.Heeney is questioned and released.
Heeney is also questioned in Hymie Weiss' slaying and suspected in Valentine Massacre.
Jan 19,1948 Heeney is reported as partners with Joseph Korngold and Campagna in the El Patio ( 5914 Cermak) and Austin gambling clubs.Both are subpoenaed.It is to find out if parolees Paul Ricca,Louis Campagna,Charles Gioe and Phil D'Andrea paid for their early freedom from prison. March 9,1948 an infirm Heeney appears in court denying ever giving one penny to help his comerades from early release.
Heeney was known a s the syndicate's contact man to gangsters in other cities.He was suspected of carrying $20,000 with him to St.Louis for the early release of his mob brethren.(Ricca,Campagna,D'Andrea and Gioe from the film industry extortion case).
Heeney dies July 13,1951 of cancer and is buried in Mt.Carmel.He was 63.
